The World Cargo Alliance (WCA) is much more than just a network of freight forwarders; it is the result of an innovative vision that has transformed the air cargo industry. Born in 1998 from the mind of David Yokeum, the WCA was conceived as an alternative to large logistics corporations, offering independent agents a platform to collaborate and compete on a level playing field.
Humble beginnings
In its early years, the WCA was a small network of agents with a clear goal: to create a global community where they could share knowledge, resources and business opportunities. Although the initial numbers were not impressive, the idea was revolutionary. The founders were able to identify a latent need in the market: the demand for more flexible, customised and tailored logistics solutions.
Exponential growth
The WCA has experienced exponential growth in recent decades, with more than 12,000 offices in 196 countries, outnumbering many multinationals in the industry. This growth is largely due to the benefits offered by the association, such as global reach to a network of contacts for fast and efficient management, financial protection from other agents and a payment system in which transactions have no need for financial intermediaries.
All this means cost savings from which the end customer benefits.
